Peace circle: Imagining the future of research in tropical biology (IN ENGLISH)

Join us for a reflective and imaginative Peace Circle where we will explore how each of us envisions the future of tropical biology research — in the near and distant future.

This is a safe, respectful, and non-hierarchical space to share personal visions, hopes, concerns, and transformative possibilities to a more pluralistic, creative and political ways of transforming our collective imagination and action in our research.

Program Outline

The session will follow this general structure:

  1. Opening Ritual. We begin with a brief moment to ground ourselves.

  2. Introductions. Each participant introduces themselves briefly, using the talking piece to take turns and set the tone of attentive listening.

  3. Setting Values and Agreements. Together, the group co-creates communication agreements and shared values that will guide the session. This helps ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

  4. Connection Rounds. A series of guided questions invites participants to share stories, feelings, reflections, or ideas related to the circle's theme. These rounds allow participants to connect at a human level, beyond roles and titles.

  5. Closing Round. In a final round, each person is invited to share a concluding thought, insight, or feeling, helping to weave together the collective experience.

  6. Closing Ritual. The session ends with a simple closing gesture or reflection to acknowledge the shared space.
